Molchan Marine Sciences was responsible for writing an extensive technical document entitled “Joint Littoral Mobility” delineating and emphasizing the importance of joint littoral missions, mission modules and capabilities of the proposed Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Discussions included the topics of USCG and coalition activities and LCS, unmanned air, surface and sub-surface vehicles, force packages, operations research regarding unmanned vehicles and their capabilities. In addition Molchan Marine Sciences described Measures of effectiveness (MOE), Measures of Performance (MOP) of the ship and its capabilities in Joint Littoral Mobility, developed use case scenarios involving Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AT/FP), Maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Non-combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO), described emerging technologies in each of the military services that may play a role in shaping the hardware and software needs of the platforms, and performed an Operational Analysis of the effects of speed and number of platforms on the operational effectiveness of LCS and its capabilities.
