It was brought to the attention of Molchan Marine Sciences that Israeli military divers were contracting cancer at an unusually high rate. It was believed that the contaminated water they trained in ( Kishon Bay, Haifa Harbor) was partially to blame for this anomaly. Fishermen based out of the same harbor were also noting high rates of cancer by comparison with fishermen from other harbors in Israel. MMS conducted interviews with divers, epidemiologists and contaminated water diving experts researching this subject over the course of two years and followed a highly publicized trial held in Israel between the effected divers and the military. MMS created a presentation on the subject and was asked to speak at the Underwater Intervention Conference in 2002 about this subject. Click here to read a published medical paper about the subject. |
