The introduction of smart-phones with camera, location, internet and orientation provides great potential for collaborative applications for mariners. Technology Systems Incorporated is developing a free application designed to connect vessel / SMART phone owners with real-time value added information and displays including augmented reality, integrated charts, weather, cruising guidance, AIS and “on the water” social networking.
Molchan Marine Sciences supported TSI in SMART Chart AIS project by developing the Concept of Operations and proposing a variety of scenarios for SMART Chart AIS http://www.tsinc.com/smartchart.html to illustrate how various users might interact and take advantage of SMART Chart AIS features.
